From sertoz at bilkent.edu.tr Wed May 25 23:28:18 2005 Date: Wed, 25 May 2005 16:28:49 +0300 From: Ali Sinan Sertoz Subject: Antalya Algebra Days VII-Last Message Dear Participants of Antalya Algebra Days VII, I hope you all had a safe journey back home. I am writing to thank you for your creating a wonderful atmosphere in Antalya this year. I personally benefited highly by making some new contacts, meeting some old friends and listening to some inspiring talks. I even learned a few new problems, to work on my own or share with my students (the harder ones especially!) Let me make one last call for plenary speakers to send in slides or any other format of their talks to be included in our web page. I hope you also enjoyed it this year so that next year you will come again. It is Alev Topuzoglu, from Sabanci University in Istanbul, who is in charge of next year's organization. Her email is alev@sabanciuniv.edu. I wish her good luck. Knowing her organizational skills, which rival only wizardry, I am already looking forward to 2006 Antalya. This year I received help from Ayse Berkman and David Pierce, who form an indispensable couple for any organizer. Ozgur Kisisel and Yusuf Civan arranged the mini courses on Toric Varieties. Ali Nesin arranged stationary from Bilgi University. Graduate students from Bilkent University, Mesut Sahin, Murat Altunbulak and Inan Turkmen, kindly agreed to carry out some tedious bookkeeping jobs. My friend and colleague Ergun Yalcin poured in an enormous amount of time and energy in designing the schedule of talks. Due to his efforts we had a balanced, smooth running program which allowed both intensive sessions in the hall and some breaks in the sun! Thank you Ergun. Tamer Koc and friends from Tivrona Tours performed most professionally. I thank them for coming up with immediate solutions whenever the occasion called for it. Bilgi University, as in the previous years, kindly agreed to provide us with notebooks, pencils and dossiers. I received both moral and active support from Bilkent University. In particular during our satellite algebraic geometry week in Ankara, the week before Antalya, Bilkent University was most generous in opening up its premises and services. Last but not least I thank to TUBITAK, Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council, for their ongoing support for Antalya Algebra Days. It has been a long letter, but it is the last. I enjoyed your company tremendously. But time has come to say thank you and good bye. Thank you and good bye!
