Abstract: We discuss a generalization of the classical continuation problem of Caratheodory, due to M.G. Krein and H. Langer. Our approach is operator theoretical and we show how fruitful this problem was over the years in generating new subjects of investigation in operator theory. Some problems that are still open are addressed. Students having knowledge of basic complex functions and functional analysis are welcome. Aurelian Gheondea (Bilkent University)
