Departmental Printer Setup
This document describes steps required for taking printout from your
computer via our departmental network printer Hp4000n. For
this, one should follow the following steps :
******** Only Windows 98 user should do
first 2 steps; Windows 95 can directly go Step 3 for
the installation. ************
Step 1
: From your desktop, by clicking
, as indicated below reach the our File Transfer Server TORE.

And double click to Tore and go inside the
directory Utilities and then sub directory Samba_Windows ( One reach this
directory, via Run typing \\tore\Utilities\Samba_windows ) . Graphically,

Step 2 :
And then double click to the file named "Win98_PlainPassword.reg
".

To follow the remaining steps , you should
restart your Windows
Step 3 :
From your desktop, by clicking
,
reach the our File Transfer Server TORE .

Secondly, select the directory Utilities and press
the right button of your mouse and press the Map Network Drive...


Step 4 : From
Start via Settings, click Printers

Select Local Printer and the click the next button


-
and press the Browse button

-
Select \\tore\Utilities from Drives

-
Select the directory hp4000n under the \\tore\Utilities

-
Under the Hp4000n, select win9x directory and
press OK button.

and again press the OK button
-
Select HP LajerJet 4000 Series PS and press the NEXT
button

Select LPT1 and press the NEXT button
-
press the NEXT button for the next step
-
Select NO and press the FINISH button

Step 5 :
Before following the sub-steps given, you should log on Windows with
the user name in "ARF"

Reach Start / Setting / Printer as in
described Step 4 , select Hp4000n then click the right button
of your mouse and click "Properties".
(Before clicking "Properties", make
sure that Hp4000n selected as "Set as Default")

Press " Detail and then the "CAPTURE PRINTER PORT"
button.

Check the box near the "Reconnected at logon"
buttton, type \\hdemir\hp4000n in
PATH box and click OK.

Write your the password of your ARF account in the
PASSWORD box and check the "Save this password in your password list" (
one can prefer uncheck this box, in this case write password each
time Windows requires )

You can check whether your computer is ready
for printing staff via
From Start / Settings / Printers ( icon should be
checked and a line should appear under the printer icon )
