FAQ
How
can I read my e-mails on arf out of campus?
Arf
is not open to all kind of connections for the security purposes.
-
For internet access from outside campus through METU
dial-up network connection, you need to use the SSH
(Secure Shell) program to connect to
your arf account and use pine or mail programs to read
your e-mails.
-
If you want to access to Arf via computer not connected internet through METU
dial-up network connection, you can send your IP address of that computer to
problem at math.metu.edu.tr and can arrange direct access from this computer to
Arf.
-
If you don't have SSH installed on your computer, you may connect to
blue.cc.metu.edu.tr
(by SSH or telnet --connection using SSH highly
recommended) using
your beluga (or orca) account and then you need to use ssh
to connect to arf.math.matu.edu.tr
(just typing ssh
account_name@arf.math.metu.edu.tr).
Note that from ODTUKent, one can directly reach to Arf by using SSH and Ftp.

How

How

How

How
can I see my files on arf (samba)?
You need to log
on windows using your arf login and then you need to go to Start,
Run then write \\arf. The computer will ask for your arf
password when you want to see your files. If you write your arf password
while you are logging on, this step will be bypassed and you will directly
reach your files on arf.
