Der Name von Cahit Arf ist international vornehmlich durch zwei Resultate behannt gowerden: Erstens durch den "Satz von Hasse-Arf" aus der Verzeigungstheorie lokaler Körper. Er ist in Band 181 (1939) enthalten. Zweitens durch die "Arf-Invarıante" der  quadratischen Formen in Charakteristik 2, welche in vielerlei Gebieten der Mathematik ihre Anwendung findet Siehe Band 183 (1941).
        Biographische Angaben zu Leben und Werk von Arf fınden sich in seinen "Collected papers", herausgegeben 1981 von der Türkischen Mathematischen Gesellschaft. Das umseitige Foto stammt aus diesem Band.

        The name of Cahit Arf has became known internationally mainly through the following two results : Firstly, the "Theorem of Hasse-Arf" from the ramification theory of local fields, published in volume 181 (1939). Secondly, the "Arf invariants" of quadratic forms in characteristic 2 which have applications in various branches of mathematics. See volume 183 (1941).
