No substantial theory of semibands is available as yet. The justification of their study lies in the frequency with which such semigroups occur in nature, and in the universal property they possess. In this thesis, we mainly focus on semibands. We then give general embedding theorems which reveal the importance of the 'idempotent' concept in semigroup theory. While exhibiting the related results, we expand the lemmas and theorems so that they can be easily followed, and give examples where appropriate. Beyond these, we make a contribution to the theory by giving an original alternative proof to one of the theorems we present.

Henüz elimizde yarı bantlarla ilgili zengin bir teori bulunmamaktadır. Yarı bantların çalışılmasını haklı gösterecek nedenler arasında ise doğada bulunuş sıklıkları ve sahip oldukları evrensel özellikler sayılabilir. Bu tezde, ağırlıklı olarak yarı bantlar üzerinde durduk ve yarı grup teorisinde tek kuvvet kavramının önemini ortaya koyan genel "embedding" teoremlerini verdik. Sonuçları sunarken, önerme ve teoremleri kolay takip edilmeleri için açtık ve uygun yerlerde örnekler verdik. Bunların dışında, teoremlerden birine verdiğimiz alternatif bir ispatla, teoriye küçük de olsa bir katkımız olduğunu umuyoruz.
